How do you set up for the course?

• Make sure you have LAMP / MAMP / WAMP / XAMPP installed

• Command line / terminal application

  • Make sure you know how to open up a command prompt for your operating system
  • For Mac users this is the "Terminal" application
  • For Windows users, from the Start menu, type cmd
  • For Linux users usually CTRL+ALT+T works, otherwise look for a command "Terminal"

• The installation of MongoDB will be covered in the installation lab

• Download or copy the Working Files folder into your home folder

• Demo test programs used in the course

  • Use PHP from the command line
  • In some cases use the mongo command shell

• Sample data

  • The Working Files folder for the installation chapter has sample data which can be imported once you have MongoDB running
